A Summer Meditation + Journaling Prompts

Enjoy this Guided Meditation to embrace the Summer season and all it offers. And yes, we will be doing this meditation in our Summer Yoga Classes. Hope to see you there!

I Root in Gratitude. I Bloom in Joy.”

Find a comfortable seat or lie down with your body fully supported. Allow your eyes to gently close. Let your hands rest softly, palms open to receive.

Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose… and exhale through your mouth.

Again, inhale deeply, filling your lungs with fresh summer air… and exhale, releasing anything you no longer need to carry. Let the weight of your body rest gently on the earth.

Allow your breath to settle into its own natural rhythm.

With each inhale, imagine drawing nourishment from the earth beneath you.
With each exhale, feel yourself becoming more grounded, more present, more at ease.

Now bring your awareness to the base of your spine. Imagine roots growing from your body, reaching deep into the earth. These roots are steady and strong. They connect you to a source of unwavering support, reminding you that you are held exactly where you are.

Silently repeat:

I am rooted in gratitude.

Mudra

Bring to mind someone, something, or some experience that fills your heart with appreciation. It doesn’t have to be extraordinary. It may be the warmth of the morning sun, the laughter of a friend, the comfort of home, or simply the gift of this breath.

Allow gratitude to spread through your body like warm sunlight, softening your shoulders, relaxing your jaw, and opening your heart.

Notice how gratitude feels—not as a thought, but as a quiet presence within you.

Now imagine that from the center of your heart, a beautiful flower begins to bloom.

With every breath, the petals slowly unfold.

Each petal represents a quality already living within you:
Joy.
Kindness.
Compassion.
Creativity.
Peace.
Love.

You don’t need to force this blooming.

Just as flowers open naturally toward the light, your heart opens naturally when nourished by gratitude.

Silently repeat:

As I root myself in gratitude, I bloom in joy.

Tree Roots

Imagine this joyful light gently expanding beyond you, touching the people you love, your community, and the world around you.

Remind yourself that joy isn’t something you must chase.

It grows from the simple practice of noticing what is already beautiful, already enough, already here.

Take one final deep breath.

Your roots are steady beneath you.
Your heart is open above you.

Carry this intention with you today:

I Root in gratitude. I bloom in joy.

When you’re ready, gently wiggle your fingers and toes.
Slowly open your eyes.
With each conscious breath, you bring this sense of peace with you into the rest of your day.

5 JOURNAL PROMPTS to EMBRACE SUMMER:

1. What in my life is quietly nourishing me right now?

Consider the people, places, routines, or moments that provide steady support, even if they often go unnoticed.

2. When do I feel most joyful and fully alive?

Reflect on experiences that make your heart feel light, open, and connected. What do they have in common?

3. What qualities within me are ready to bloom this season?

Perhaps it’s courage, creativity, patience, confidence, compassion, or trust. What wants to emerge?

4. What old belief, habit, or fear can I lovingly release to create more space for joy?

Imagine gently letting go, making room for something new to flourish.

5. If gratitude became the soil from which I lived each day, how might my life change?

How would I think differently? Speak differently? Care for myself and others? What small practice could help me stay rooted in gratitude each day?
